Theme: REC
Where: Exhibition in shop windows of Algorta’s businesses
In collaboration with: Algortako Dendak Association
Getxophoto’s popular participation space is an open activity for anyone who wishes to take part in the Festival by submitting a single photo on the theme REC. The result is a collection of photographs in a variety of styles, approaches, and perspectives on this edition’s theme.
We have received over 170 images from cities including Iruña, Vigo, Oviedo, Bilbao, Coruña, Haarlem, Cambrils, Caracas, Buenos Aires, Algorta, London, Alcobendas, Valladolid, Tbilisi, New York, Bat Yam, Sydney, Victoria, Milan, Getxo, Indore, Taormina, Alexandria, Barrika, Naogaon, Sopelana, Cairo, Beijing, Berango, and Addis Ababa, among many others.
The jury –made up of Gorka Garate, Eukene Olague, and the organization– has selected 45 images that are being exhibited during Getxophoto in the shop windows of various businesses belonging to the Algortako Dendak merchants’ association, based on the suitability of the format and the location. In addition, we have created a guide featuring the selected photos along with information about the shops where they are displayed, in order to offer a route for those wishing to enjoy a photographic walk.
It is worth mentioning that the Algortako Dendak association awards a prize consisting of a €100 voucher, which can be used in participating businesses, for the best photograph taken by a participant from Getxo. This year, the prize has been awarded to Pello Seron Esnal, author of the image Buruhandi.
